Rev. John Collins

Missions Minister

Reverend John M. Collins was born in Eunice, LA. and is the oldest son of John and Lois Collins. Rev. Collins grew up attending St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mallet, LA. However, as a child he routinely looked for and made excuses to go to Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Ville Platte, LA with his aunt and uncle. It is in these escapades that Rev. Collins truly began seeing God work in his life. Upon graduating from Eunice High School, Rev. Collins enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Drum, New York where he served his country proudly. After his discharge from the Army, Rev. Collins moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he found work as a craftsman and a church home.

In July of 1996 while attending a revival at The Arising Church of God in Christ in Fort Worth, TX, Rev. Collins fully surrendered his life to the Lord. Upon receiving the right hand of fellowship, Rev. Collins faithfully served as a brother and deacon until announcing that he had accepted his call to the Ministry and preached his Inaugural Sermon on July 18, 1998, “Are You Saved” {1 Timothy 2:1-6}.

In April of 1999, Rev. Collins was hired as a locksmith with the Arlington Independent School District. Needing a change, Rev. Collins enrolled at DeVry University in the spring of 2001 and graduated in the spring of 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management. In the summer of that same year Rev. Collins began working toward his teaching certification through the Education Career Alternative Program. In August 2005, Rev. Collins was hired as a classroom teacher in the Arlington Independent School District. Desiring to advance in the education profession, in the fall of 2007 Rev. Collins enrolled at the University of North Texas Dallas campus where he graduated in August 2009 with a Master of Education Administration. This degree was immediately put to use as Rev. Collins was hired by the Arlington Independent School District as an Assistant Principal in May of 2009.

Rev. John M. Collins proudly serves as Minister of Missions at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He is married to Tracy M. Collins, the love of his life, and they have two beautiful daughters, Kyle Madison age 5 and Evan Mechelle age 2.
